Tax Assistance Program - Financial Strategies for Working Families

get involved

For Saturday sessions, all City volunteers meet downtown at the Harris Bank building, 111 W. Monroe St., at 7:30 a.m.

At Harris Bank we will greet you, assign you to a site, and put you on a bus departing before 8:00 a.m.

Some sites will have various Financial Literacy partners that may include:

  • Financial Aid Experts, who handle any complications or questions a volunteer may have with the FAFSA completion process; and
  • Banking representatives, who can educate clients about basic banking services and help with opening a checking or savings account

On a typical Saturday, we’ll finish between up between 12:30 and 1:00 p.m., board the buses and have you back downtown at Harris Bank before 2:00 p.m.

For Saturday suburban sessions in Aurora, Calumet City, Plainfield, and Villa Park all volunteers go directly to their site, arriving by 8:00 a.m. For Waukegan and Maywood, please arrive by 8:45am.  The activities and duties at these sites are the same as above except that we do not provide transportation.

For Tuesday and Thursday evening sessions at Roberto Clemente High School, and Benito Juarez Community Academy, volunteers may sign up to go directly to their chosen site, arriving by 5:15 p.m., or they may sign up to take a bus at 4:45 p.m. from Harris Bank (111 W. Monroe).  Volunteers going to City Hall go directly to the site, arriving by 5:15pm.  Doors are open from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Again, all activities and duties at these sites are the same as above.
